Hi. I was raised by a Catholic feminist who imprinted me with a mix of independence meets survival all while Pops was tossing in a bit of the ineffable: a somewhat insatiable curiosity of the causal world. I loved my spiritual life and catechism studies when I was a kid.
Imagine my devastation when, at age fourteen, I was assured by the head priest of our parish that I’d never be allowed, ever, to enter the seminary to train for the priesthood. Simply, and utterly, because I was a girl. I thought for sure by the time I reached adulthood they’d change the rules. Jeez. My first outright patriarchal smack.
Inspired and informed by my power-house shero mama and poker-playing engineer pops, I leapt into a life of exploration, existential conflict, and artistic expression, funneling me into an immersion of all things Femmé. I examined systems and constructs of the world I knew and wondered if there was any way I could crack the code. Over years that became decades, I began to realize that my very private and personal operating system was wired to function like a man – a direct result of thousands of years of systematic patriarchy meets second-wave feminism.
At the turn of the century, I voluntarily steeped neck-deep in New Thought, Science and Spirituality, Behavioral Psychology, Energy Medicine, and esoteric studies of Indigenous and Ancient Wisdom Traditions. Under the tutelage of a Native American Elder and also an African Mystic, my penchant for science sought to understand and find language around how all this mysticism functionally worked. Situated in a matrix characterized by and dependent on haves and have-nots, domineering hierarchy, competition, allopathic acculturation, and external gratification, I wondered about an alternative.
What could be the key for change? One that was rooted deep, with an infinitude of possible outcome.
If the patriarchy is fueled by an over-zealous masculine energy, what other options might be possible? In 2002, I set out to investigate and intentionally understand the feminine energetic, which unfolded into fifteen years of monthly Feminine Energy Circle gatherings. What is it? How does it operate, and what might be a practical application? In 2006, I ignited the Modern Day Priestess Training, a program centered on this query, which continues to today.
And joy of joys, my soul-sister Toni Gripper (aka The Goddess) – whose consciousness is fiercer than any flame imaginable, more solid than any steel door, and more tender than the most compassionate of angels – has joined me in this anthropological dig. This fact, along with my ravenous quest for establishing a world where everybody can win, and YOU hopping aboard = Pure Bliss, basically, for me. I’m so grateful you’re here. Wow. Let’s do this.
